Official biography
Charlie Alsmiller
Software entrepreneur · Author · Pilot
A builder by trade and an explorer by temperament, Charlie’s work centers on a simple idea: build what matters, and live before everything is finished.

The throughline
Build systems that hold. Make room for the life around them.
Across more than 35 years in technology, Charlie has helped turn complex systems, ambitious ideas, and growing organizations into businesses capable of lasting beyond their founders. He began as a programmer at Bell Helicopter and went on to consulting roles with Deloitte and PwC before leading venture-backed technology companies.
Charlie founded and led multiple software businesses, including Appterra, a B2B integration company acquired by Descartes Systems Group in 2016. Today he is the founder and CEO of APIWORX and is developing AI-first commerce infrastructure through APIXX, alongside aviation ventures A4 Aviation and SortieOS.
He holds a BBA in Management and Information Systems from Baylor University and an MBA in International Business from the University of Dallas, where he graduated with highest honors. He is also a Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses graduate.
The Scout Law—especially trustworthiness—remains a practical standard for how Charlie evaluates partners, teams, and his own decisions. His service has included the Forbes Technology Council, the North Texas District Export Council, Entrepreneurs’ Organization leadership, and mentoring founders through Baylor’s New Venture Competition.
Beyond business, Charlie is a former Philmont ranger, private pilot, hiker, cyclist, husband to Mary, father of two adult daughters, and traveler to more than 150 countries. Surviving cancer sharpened his conviction that meaningful living cannot be deferred until the work is finished.
